Your Himachal Bird Watching Tour will start as you arrive in Delhi. Our tour representative will pick you up from Delhi Airport/ Delhi Railway Station. We will now transfer you to the pre-booked hotel in Delhi where you can check-in and stay here for the night.
Today you will check-out from Delhi and we will drive to Chail. This hill station is very close to Shimla and is best for trekking and bird watching. You can check into the hotel in Chail and later go bird watching. The pine and deodar forests in Chail teem with exciting birdlife. You can spot woodpeckers, jungle fowl, warblers, pheasants, hill partridge, whistling thrush, sparrows, raptors, etc. After this bird-watching tour in Chail, you will have a night's stay in Chail Palace.
You will go for a morning bird watching in Chail. Later you will leave for Narkanda. You can make a halt at Kufri Zoo and spot Himalayan wildlife. Check into the hotel in Narkanda and later go for bird watching. You can spot Himalayan birds like hill partridge, spotted nutcracker, common hoopoe, Himalayan Woodpecker, Himalayan griffon, ultramarine flycatcher, Eurasian blackbird, and many other bird species. After this bird-watching trip to Narkanda, you will return to your hotel and have an overnight stay.
You will go bird watching in Hatu Peak in the morning. Then leave for Sarahan, which is a village with apple and apricot orchards. Sarahan has a pheasant breeding center and you can spot many colorful pheasants here. You can go for bird watching in Sarahan and spot crested bunting, shikra, buzzards, common kestrel, hawk eagle, blue-tailed bee-eaters, rose finches, yellow-billed blue magpies, etc. Later after this bird-watching trip, you will have a night stay in Sarahan.
You will check-out from Sarahan and reach Sangla after a six-hour drive. You can go bird watching in Sangla and spot many birds here. The town of Sangla is close to the Tibetan border and is located in Baspa Valley. You can find colorful birds like owls, parakeets, Eurasian jays, flycatchers, warblers, hawk eagles, tree pipit, lesser cuckoo, goldfinch, and others. You will stay in Sangla for the night in a luxury tent.
Today you will go on an excursion to Chitkul, which is best for bird watching. Chitkul is a small village with incredible natural beauty. You can view fascinating Himalayan mountains, glaciers, and valleys, everywhere. You can spot birds like redstarts, nuthatches, tits, finches, and many others. After this day of bird watching you will return to Sangla and rest here for the night.
Today you will check-out from Sangla and reach Nako, which is located at the meeting point of the Spiti and Sutlej Rivers. On the route, you can halt at several places and spot birds. We will drive on bridges and stop to admire the various viewpoints from where you can view mountain peaks. You can make halts to spot birds of the higher Himalayan ranges. You can spot chukar partridge, Himalayan griffon vulture, golden oriole, magpie, quails, black redstart, blue rock thrush, chestnut bellied rock thrush, hill pigeon, and other birds. You will now stay overnight in the luxury tent in Nako.
Today we will check-out from Nako and proceed to Pin Valley National Park. This is a region of unparalleled natural beauty of Spiti Valley. Spiti River runs parallel to the route and you can admire the beautiful views of the river as it winds its way through the eerie moonlike landscapes. You will visit Nako Monastery on the way and this Buddhist monastery is more than 1000 years old monastery. You can make halts to bird watching on the way to Pin Valley National Park.
Pin Valley National Park is a cold desert environment and is perfect to spot rare birds of the Himalayan ranges such as snow finch, Eurasian Eagle Owl, snow partridge, horned lark, golden oriole, blue-fronted redstart, grey bush chats, etc.
Today we will proceed to Pangmo Khas and on the way visit the famous monasteries of Kaza, Kibber, and Kye. You can do bird watching on the way and search for such birds as snow pigeons, black redstart, hill pigeons, bullfinches, and Hume's short-toed lark.
Today you will go bird watching in Losar and Kunzum Valley on the way to Chattru from Pangmo Khas. You can keep an eye out for such birds as the Indian blue robin, great rose finch, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, rosy pipit, Khaleej pheasant, and others. You will stay overnight in the luxury tent at Chattru.
Today we will leave the barren cold desert terrain of Lahaul Spiti and enter the lush green valleys of Kullu Manali. The desolate barren landscapes turn into lush green and pine and deodar trees. You can do some bird watching at Rohtang Pass and cross Manali. You will reach Tirthan Valley and find luxury camps here. You can spot some birds here like rosy pipit, snow pigeon, and nutcracker.
Tirthan Valley is perfect for bird watching and is very close to another famous national park called Great Himalayan National Park. You can expect to spot birds like the Golden oriole, honey buzzard, Asian barred owlet, common kestrel, Asian Paradise flycatcher, jungle myna, Indian blue robin, spotted owlet, yellow-billed blue magpie. You will have an overnight stay in Tirthan Valley.
Today we enter the Inner Seraj region of Kullu Manali and drive through Jalori Pass and Shoja. The luxuriant pine forests are home to several birds such as Khalij pheasants, Indian blue robins, white-collared blackbirds, mistle thrush, ultramarine flycatchers, Asian Paradise flycatchers, grosbeaks, red-billed blue magpie and others.
Today we will drive to Chandigarh and stay overnight in the hotel.
In the morning we will drive from Chandigarh to Delhi, which will be a drive of around 5-6 hours. We will stay overnight in the hotel in Delhi.
Today is the final day of this Himachal Bird Watching Tour. We will drop you at Delhi Airport/ Delhi Railway Station and you can continue your onward journey by train/ flight.
