Your Meghalaya Wildlife Tour will start as you arrive in Guwahati. Our tour representative will pick you up from Guwahati Railway Station/ Guwahati Airport and drive to Baghmara by private vehicle. Baghmara Reserve Forest is a protected area to protect the Pitcher Plants, a carnivorous plant species. We will check into the guest house/ hotel and you can stay here for the night.
Today we will go for a jungle safari walk in Baghmara Reserve Forest. This forest is well-known for its pitcher plants. These plants are carnivorous plants that trap ants and other insects and consume them slowly. The jungles are also a haven for wild animals and birds. Baghmara Pitcher Plant Sanctuary is located very close to the Bangladesh border. The area known as South Garo Hills is a region of lush greenery, river streams, hills, and dense jungles. You can find several other animals such as mongoose, foxes, squirrels, snakes, and several lizards. We will visit a tribal village after lunch and see the lifestyle of the tribal people. Later we will return to our lodge and have dinner and overnight stay.
Today we will check-out from Baghmara and proceed to visit Balpakram National Park. The road journey is very scenic and full of greenery and jungles. You can make halts to spot the wildlife. When we reach Balpakram you can check into the jungle lodge. Later we will go on a short jungle trek and view the wildlife here. You can familiarize yourself with the terrain and trails of this national park. This national park is located at a distance of 50 km from Baghmara and is one of the spectacular wildlife viewing regions in Meghalaya. After this jungle trek in Balpakram National Park, we will return to the wildlife lodge and rest here for the night.
Today we will go on a full-day wildlife viewing in the jungles of Balpakram National Park. The subtropical forests, grasslands, and bamboo forests are ideal habitats for several wildlife creatures, birds, and reptiles. You can spot several creatures like the Black Bear, Bison, Elephant, Chital Deer, Wild Water Buffalo, Marbled Cat, Red Panda, and Bengal Tiger among these. Balpakram National Park is in the Garo Hills and is one of Meghalaya’s most beautiful protected areas for wildlife viewing and bird watching. During your jungle trek, you can try to spot as many birds as possible among the green foliage and trees. The commonly seen birds in Balpakram National Park are the White-winged Duck, Grey Peacock, Bay Woodpecker, Flavescent Bulbul, Blyth's Kingfisher, Jerdon's Baza, Mountain Bamboo Partridge, White-cheeked Partridge, Olive Bulbul, Eyebrowed Wren Babbler among others. We will return to our jungle resort in the evening and have rest and overnight stay.
Today we will check-out from Balpakram National Park and proceed to visit the most famous tourist destination in Meghalaya, which is Shillong. We will visit Shillong Peak, which offers breathtaking views of the villages, and greenery around Shillong. We will check into the hotel on arrival in Shillong. Later go for a leisurely walk in Shillong and visit a nearby market. You can experience the local life in Shillong and the touristy vibes that Shillong gives you. You will stay overnight in Shillong.
You will check-out from Shillong today and proceed to visit Cherrapunjee by private vehicle. Cherrapunjee is famous in Meghalaya for its mountains, waterfalls, lush greenery, and rainfall. You can make halts to admire the magical scenery of the mountains, waterfalls, and landscapes. You can check into the hotel in Cherrapunjee on arrival. After you freshen up we will visit the most famous tourist sightseeing places in Cherrapunjee, which are Mawsmai Caves, Nohsngithiang Falls, and Nohkalikai Falls. Later we will return to the hotel and then overnight rest, have dinner, and stay.
Today we will visit the Living Root Bridges in Cherrapunjee. These Double Decker Living Root Bridges are a man-made marvel and are made of aerial roots of the Rubber tree. The local Khasi tribes have made these bridges and shaped them in such a way that they form a natural bridge over the river. These tribes use these bridges to cross over to other parts of Meghalaya. You will have to trek a little to reach the Living Root Bridges. During the trek, you can experience the forest environment, the songs of birds, and natural beauty. A walk on the bridges is an experience in itself. The natural roots have been shaped for several centuries by the Khasi tribes. After this visit to Double Decker Living Root Bridges in Meghalaya you will return to the hotel and have overnight rest and stay.
Today you will visit Mawlynnong, and this is a village, which has become famous all over the world as the ‘Cleanest village in Asia’. As you take a walk on the roads of the village you will experience what cleanliness means. The tribal people not only keep their homes clean but also sweep the roads. They have banned plastic bags and smoking is also prohibited. Due to these measures, this village has earned this nickname. After this, we will continue this day’s tour and visit the Living Root Bridges. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a living reminder of the ingenious ways of the Khasi tribes. We will visit Sky View, which is a viewing tower and vantage point in the jungles. You can have a panoramic view of the entire jungle area and experience the silence of the jungle. The place is very close to the Indo-Bangladesh border. We will now visit the Balancing Rock of Mawlynnong. These rocks are very close to the Living Root Bridges. The huge rock here is on top of smaller rocks and has been in this position for many centuries. We will later return to our hotel and you can spend the evening time at leisure. Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.
Today we will check-out from Cherrapunjee and make our way to Shillong by car. On the way we will make a short halt and you can admire the gorgeous views of the Elephant Falls. You can enjoy the beautiful views of the Shillong Peak. The natural beauty of Shillong Peak cannot be described in words. You can spend some time at the place and relax during your trip. Later you will reach Shillong and check into your hotel. You will have dinner and an overnight stay in Shillong.
We will have breakfast in the hotel and then check out from Shillong. We will drive to Guwahati and you can board the train/ flight from Guwahati Railway Station/ Guwahati Airport.
